The token system is a way of having students in the classroom receive positive incentives for things that they do correctly in the classroom. This system takes the focus from the negative or undesirable behaviors and pivots that focus to the positive behaviors that align with the expectations in the classroom. As a parent and teacher, I use this rather often with my daughter, and it keeps things rather interesting in our home.
